experiences in painting

Combined with mindfulness, painting can be a means of "adjacent collection" (meditation). The strokes resemble a thought or sound. They are unique and ephemeral. It is a knowing experience. A way to let go of clinging to desires, to the future and the past, in order to give space to knowledge through playful action.

The Song of Creation

​

As a precise observer of nature, DBS paints with watercolor and ink and designs objects (e.g. refuge at Hohenstein) in its native Schaumburg and Weserbergland, in Sri Lanka and India. Since 2003 the artist has been living in Warnowtal, Sternberger Seenland. Since 81, their spiritual wanderings, natural and cultural research have taken them to Asia, from the south of the Andaman Islands to the snowfields of the Himalayas.

After her professional career she practiced yoga and meditation holistically. On this basis, she lovingly creates an old new order, partly in miniature painting, in contemplation of the organic chaos of nature.

It seems like a voyage of discovery with no beginning or end. A change in moments of perception that gather again in the reduction of Zen calligraphy, where a few strokes and lines are the intuitive painting process.

​

Circular mandalas are used to prepare for meditation. It is a female art that gives a lot of space to feelings and inner experience. The power of light, which lets everything visible come into being and pass away, is at the center of her works. Man remains part of the whole.

​

The artist's path leads to the roots of local and Asian tradition, where creative activity, spiritual concentration and natural healing are playfully combined.

The circle mandala

​

The circular mandala is used to prepare for meditation. It is painted on four sides.

The painting begins with a circle of water on white watercolor paper, around which the associative chains of thoughts, feelings and ideas move in fragmentary allusions.

In this cycle of sensory impressions one practices detachment from the perceptual processes and learns to recognize the peace of mind in its emptiness. This is indicated in the center.

Calligraphy - the unintentional painting

​

In Za-Zen meditation, Shosho means artistic painting with a brush and ink. Painting is preceded by meditation in order to surrender to the intuitive, the unintentional. In this way, the practitioner can see the power of the spirit and of meditation while painting with just a few strokes.

The passage

 

Tangible passage is the ability to trust universal law in its simplicity and wisdom, opening to a new, different perspective. The familiar is lost, insights are found that push the boundaries of experience.

​

From the mentally processed processes, a new approach also arises in the artistic field, which reveals the traces of tantra and tao yoga, a changed consciousness.

​
